Feeling the heatwave and patience
We have been experiencing some massive heat here. It's making me stay in and be productive. Hahaha.
Just when I think summer slows down the pace of things, new projects and new opportunities fall on my lap.
I heard some great news from one of the producers I worked on a track with. His work including our track together got some good things coming their way. Once that's all finalized I will be more than happy to share the news.
I'm also working with new producers on some fantastic tracks as well as starting new tracks on those whom I''ve happily worked with before. In fact just recorded some new experimental vocal stuff for an electro producer with whom I've just recently connected with. It's all pretty fresh stuff and gives my brain the chance to get its juicy neuron circuits going. Needless to say, I'm more than excited to share all this new music with you. Ahh, Patience.
In the meantime, allow me to share some wonderful playlists from DJs around the world that have included some of my work. THANK YOU, THANK YOU AND THANK YOU! As I discover more mixes I will share with you.

Early in the morning ...
The lazy hazy days of summer are upon us. I've had a chance to catch up on some summer reading, enjoying walks in the my nearby park, or trips to the charming cities in Maryland and Virginia. Being around nature does invigorate my creative process. Just recently I was working on a song and each morning I'd wake up with a brand new melody for it. Straight away I'd go to my itouch or recording gear and record the line or melody. It's spontaneous and like a flow of lighting inspiration comes. After a refreshing walk in the park, I'll go directly to my DAW and play around with some ideas and riff. After that week passed, the original idea I had for that song I was working on completely changed and became something "new." It was a new sculpture. I make sure I really utilize nature time and especially early in the morning. The flow of ideas that come out of me at that time is amazing. I could probably write melody after melody. Good morning to you. It's about that time. Let me get cracking on some improvisation.
Me and my guiiiiitar
Wow. I just found this video from a few years back. I was living and working in Korea at the time. Around that time, I put songwriting and performing in general off to the side. I kind of used that time away to focus on something else. I wanted to live out my dream of living in faraway lands with just me, myself, and I. My job abroad was rewarding but definitely stressful. When I actually had moments to myself, I really found such pleasure playing my guitar. I would find songs and just play and lose myself in the moment. I went on vacation to Boracay, Philippines one summer where I remember sitting on the beach with the locals and just chilling. I remember playing and singing "Wonderwall" by Oasis with some locals friends I met. It was crazy surreal and truly straight from the movies with the Pacific Ocean right there, our feet in the sand, and the perfect breeze and, of course, those pestering mosquitoes. Back in my residence hut, I would sit on my hammock and play something just chilling out. Each moment I thought to myself I'm here on this tropical island paradise. Remember this moment. Remember it. My guitar has really been a source of solace throughout my life. It's like my third arm. It's the music that is my companion wherever in the world I went no matter what period in your life. Now I'm so grateful to put my own words, my own melodies, and my voice to my own songs. Without those experiences like in this video sitting on the floor in my tiny apartment in Korea, I would not have some great moments to write about today.
I would consider myself a relatively quiet, introspective person. I'm not a big talker and don't like to get into drama. I am a film and book nerd (started reading "The World Until Yesterday" by Jared Diamond; I'm not completely in love with it though). Some of my favorite films include "Godfather 1 & 2", "Dodgeball", and "Cinema Paradiso." I love reading about the UNIVERSE and what is LIFE in general. My world is pretty much surrounded by my imagination which is why storytelling has been an integral part of my life. As a child, I wrote stories. I started writing stories around 8 years old about 8 year old imaginary characters. I also watched a lot of television which I think fostered the scenarios I wrote about. When I was 10 years old, I wrote a script for my class just to perform for fun. My teacher heard about it and said that I should direct it and put it on stage for the other classes to see which I did. That was the start of my continuous expression. At around the same time, I saw an old journal that was being sold for cheap and begged my mom to buy it for me. Since then I have never stopped writing stories, thoughts, ideas, feelings.
In my own mind, I am constantly seeking stories to tell and imagining scenes. When I write songs, I tend to like the process of being able to express in sound what I cannot relay in lyrics. Does my voice embrace the sentiment of my words? That is important to me similar to an actor being believable in his character.
To this day I still carry a journal book around with me writing down ideas, lyrics, thoughts for the next music project. Perhaps writing down some ideas of how I might have felt during a certain moment in time. It is real time journaling. So I guess in some ways being the songwriter and singer for the material I work on gives me a certain advantage because I can only rely on myself for making sure I deliver the sentiment that I truly want.
