i was dining in one of the local restaurants. there were 7 people in total at the restaurant including myself. as i walked out of the washroom what i saw felt like a scene from a movie:
the other 6 people sitting at small dining tables and EACH and EVERY one of them had their heads down looking at their smart phone. no conversations. no eye contact. no interactions. no small chat. nothing nada. friends. partners. spouses. parent child. it didn't matter. even the individual who was eating by himself having a large hot soup was looking at this smartphone being careful not to drop the phone as he watched a video during his meal. this is the outside world. this has become the world we live in. AND yet WE ARE NOT AWARE TO CARE THAT THERE IS SOMETHING NOT QUITE RIGHT WITH THAT SCENE.

i find that the truth of reality is all within. like inside of ourselves we carry within us the book of knowledge that holds everything. it is not a long book because the words/data/information is encoded in a micro-dot.
the issue is that "other forces" keeping taking the book out of the library when we're looking for it or moving the book to another part of our inner library or placing the book underneath a pile of rubbage books to distract us from looking for it. the book is there. keep it close to you. what is peace?
lightly appreciating form, observing form but not holding onto form. form is not real because it is always changing. so really how could you possibly hold onto something if it can never be held so to speak? breathe in essence, breathe out form. and on and on and on... Another beautiful piece. Music is beyond words. in my experience the more moments I am in silence (no music, no books, no podcasts, no conversations, just me and nature) the more inspired I become. the more I am exposed to noise the more my mind becomes embroiled in the noise. this way I can create music from that silent space within.

barry long art of the present moment
learning; knowledge; gains; slow; slow down; even slower; slow the mind; clear the mind; dissect; allow then let go; go back; allow then let go; go back; repeat; discover new; dissect; let go; go back and dissect once more; repeat. there is beauty in the moment that is micro level. refinement in the art of the moment. it is like trying to describe air. it is like describing the warmth of the sun on a chilly day. if you are distracted in the trivial ways of the outside world one then has dumbed down the perception of the moment. the pebbles are jumping around in haphazard patterns. chaos on canvas putting 100% trust on outside influences without any self-accountability or questions regarding the wellbeing of YOU - your mind, your body, your life is an example of ignorance |
