I was blown away the first time I heard Niki and The Dove's DJ Ease My Mind. Sure, it's a pop dance song. On a deeper level musically it's fantastic in how it builds and takes you on a beautiful journey. I inspire to make music for people to feel that same way upon listening.
Inside remains one of my favorite works. Initially I had some trouble writing something to this music. Inspiration came to me while I was taking a shower :) The melody and lyrics just started flowing to my mind! I had to remember it and quickly record it before I forgot. Funny how inspiration works.
Thank you everyone around the world for showing love for our new song Stay!!! I want to give big thanks especially to the listeners in Baltimore, Chicago, and Los Angeles. So happy to know the listener audience is growing in the States! Check out the lyrics below!
Stay I don't wanna waste my words I just wanna say how I really feel All I wanna be is in your world All I wanna feel is electric with you I'm not gonna waste your time I just gotta tell you how I really feel If I don't tell you now, I never will. Stay I don't know how it took so long How could I live without your touch? I just wanna hold you now I just gotta say how I really feel If you don't know it now, you never will I'm not gonna waste your time I just gotta tell you how I really feel If I don't tell you now, I never will. Stay I don't wanna waste your time

The Joy of Slow Practice - Don't just play notes I cannot say enough about how much slow practice at the piano has impacted me. It is a mental challenge that has produced massive results. Analyzing the nuances of just one measure of classical music is like opening up a whole world of expression. Questions one might ask oneself are "What does this passage want you as the listener to feel?", "What words might you sing in the melody line?", "What emotions do the harmonies make you feel?" Don't try to play the notes perfectly and think job well-done. No, in fact, it's just begun. Making the notes sing aloud is taking your musical understanding to another dimension of expression. Tapping into that place is what musical connection is all about.
Keeping up a daily vocal workout to keep the voice strong is important. I am eternally grateful to all the classical, musical theater, and cabaret coaches I've had throughout the years for helping me integrate versatility in vocal performance. It's not just about singing notes. Very important are rhythmic expression, lyrical delivery, emotional connection, and making it your own interpretation.
Somewhere in the Night - creative notes I wanted to work on a track where I could place vocal layers, a dialogue of sorts where one talks to oneself whilst going for a walk. I suppose I should have called it Layers. At the time I was listening to a mix of Neo Soul and Trip Hop. New Wave and Trip Hop music were very influential to me in my upbringing and thus my creative works. I asked Medsound to create a track with atmosphere and off I went to improvise layer after layer as if wandering some place somewhere in the night with no destination.

creative notes for the new year - "Slow Practice" I've just started working on this beauty - Galuppi: Adagio in D Major - on the piano. Singing the notes while figuring out the parts helps tremendously. I've got a long way to go. Thankfully I don't mind slow practice. I quite enjoy it actually as it takes immense focus and that relaxes me. Seems to be quite opposite for others. I zone out and complete the task at hand.
