MORGEN WURDE “Für Immer” (Off, 2020)

THANKS TO terminal313
A lonesome musician is sitting in the quayside mist, the trumpet sentimentally yearning for past days in “Glühte aus” and “Über Nacht”. This is the introduction of Morgen Wurde’s new double CD with strong classical notes when it features in addition to the trumpeter Tetsuroh Konishi violinist Georges-Emmanuel Schneider, vibraphonist Doug Perry and David Strother on electric violin. Obviously the artist has resisted the temptation of full DIY electronics and engaged many ‘real’ musicians. The result is convincing, as the mood is ranging from sentimental to dramatic, and even spiritual when enjoying ten minutes of pure charm of “Schien immer” with Maria Estrella Aggabao on vocals...
thanks to jan willem broek of subjectivisten.nl
"Morgen Wurde often works with the trumpeter Tetsuroh Konishi and the singer Maria Estrella Aggabao. In addition, various guests participate in this album on vibraphone, violins and electronics. In over 71 minutes 9 great pieces are served, which land somewhere between neoclassical, dark ambient and abstract techno. There is a certain dreaminess, but also something eerie in the music. All this results in an incomparable listening journey, which sometimes takes on almost stunningly overwhelming forms. Most of it is instrumental, but in the sublime final song "Schien Immer", those heavenly vocal sounds by Maria are added. It is all so incredibly beautiful. This music can be located between Nils Petter Molvaer, Giulio Aldinucci, Markus Guentner, Richard Skelton, Jon Hassell, A Winged Victory For The Sullen and Nick Cave & @Warren Ellis. A masterful album.

And there are the soloists, wandering through these sonic landscapes as masters of their art [such as] Maria Estrella's transcendent vocal texture, nestling in solemn spheres, which marks the epic finale. Various Artists — Pop Ambient 2020 (Kompakt)
reviewed by ANDREW FORELL in dusted magazine
Kompakt celebrates twenty years of the Pop Ambient series with a new collection of beatless luminance featuring stalwarts Joachim Spieth, Thomas Fehlman and Markus Guentner as well as some of the lesser-known names on the label’s roster.
Thore Pfeiffer’s “Urquell” — an acoustic guitar over an unobtrusive bed of synths and scratchy strings — sets the mood for the subsequent 85 minutes. Tracks float by lulling the listener into a state between dreams and catatonia. Good then that Maria Estrella reminds us to breathe on Morgan Wurde’s “Laesst Los,” a quite lovely track built on string beds, treated whispers and Estrella’s gentle instructions..."

Various Artists — Pop Ambient 2019 [Kompakt]

Off | 2018

MORGEN WURDE – Brach Auf  (Time Released Sound, 2016)

READ MORE...
Review from The Sunday Experience
Morgen Wurde's Assassinous Act
 September 10, 2017 by marklosingtoday

We’ve struggled to find as perfect a way to open this Sunday account that this, a track lifted from the latest set to escape the Californian based Time Released Sound & Time Sensitive Materials sound house. By Morgen Wurde, this is ‘forgiveness’ from a rather exquisitely intimate reading entitled ‘Assassinous Act’. As ever strictly limited in nature and available in two variants, the standard CD version in a 100 only edition and the deluxe art set – just 50 of those. By way of a little background here, the label describes the release thus, ‘the thirteen tracks here take us through the conception of the crime, to the actual acting out of it, and beyond to a final redemption and reckoning of sorts. With his two “accomplices”, Maria Estrella Aggabao and Georges-Emmanuel Schneider, he has indeed provided us with a fitting soundscape to this evocative release!’. As said it’s ‘forgiveness’ that’s somewhat held our hearts a siege, divinely demurred, action and consequence are engaged in deliberation, both squaring on opposing sides, between them weighing the scales, reflection. Its counsel casting a moment of peaceful consideration, the effect ethereal approaching celestial and unworldly, is sighed by the mesmeric murmur of serenely spectral dream draped overtures and hymnal gracefalls, as beautifully poised, classically caressed and crafted not to mention, spiritually attuned as you’ll hope to find outside of the Dead Can Dance canon.

Morgen Wurde – Brach Auf (cd, Time Released Sound)

Read More...
